KTLA reporter gets a parking ticket on Live TV

KTLA's Gayle Anderson was in Santa Monica doing a live story on some fancy new cars when a police officer starts writing $50 parking tickets for all the TV station's cars that were parked there.

In response to this incident the police department put out the following press release:

On May 25, 2010, at 8:58 a.m., traffic officers from the Santa Monica Police Department received a call for service from the parking manager of the 1550 beach lot; Central Parking. The caller reported that several vehicles were in the parking lot refusing to pay.

Upon arrival, a Traffic Service Officer was advised by the attendant that eleven vehicles were parked in parking spots and had not paid. The attendant advised that his supervisor approached the news crew at 7:40 a.m. and advised them they needed to pay for the parking spots. The news crew promised to pay for the spaces before 9:00 a.m. When the attendant approached the news crew at 8:50 a.m. to pay for the parking spaces, they ignored him. The parking attendant contacted his supervisor to call the Santa Monica Police Department.

A Traffic Service Officer approached the news crew and advised them she was there to address the issue of not paying for the parking spaces. A representative from the news crew stated they had already paid for the spaces and had a permit. The traffic service officer asked the representative for the receipt and permits. The representative walked away and did not come back.

At 9:20 a.m., the traffic service officer issued four citations for failing to pay to the vehicles that were parked in parking spaces. Although the news reporter stated on the live television broadcast that they had paid for the parking spaces at the time the officer was issuing the citations, the news crew actually paid for the parking spaces at 9:40 a.m., after the citations were issued.

I'm waiting for LA to get their own "Parking Wars" TV show inline with Philly and Detroit.

Obama is a Keynesian Video

During the October 2010 Rally to Restore Sanity Rally that Jon Stewart and Steven Colbert held, a fake news reporter went to Washington DC with a sign that said, "Obama is a Keynesian" sign...

Needless to say, many rally-goers were unaware that Keynesian is a type of economic thought (frequently at odds with the Austrian School). These people thought the sign holder was referencing Obama's Kenyan (African) heritage and were quick to point out that Barack was born in Hawaii.

Only one guy at the end of the video mentions economic policy in his answer... And the reporter jabs at a young voter's stance on prop 19, because he seemed like a stoner.

Cleveland Weatherman is bothered by a Streaker during a blizzard

This local Cleveland weatherman is doing a field reporter in downtown during a cold blustery snow storm. While he's interviewing another citizen bundled up in a winter coat, hat and scarf a naked / shirtless streaker starts dancing right behind the meteorologist! And the streaker has the gumption to say, "It's cold out here---woooo!"... Pretty funny if you ask me.

Epic Overbid on Price is Right Show Case Showdown

After Jose's first $250,000 on the showcase showdown, Bob Barker asked him to think about it a little bit... He then lowered his bid to $60,000... But his opponent realized that it was still a bone-headed way to high bid ended up placing a $1 bid---(Something you usually only see in the early rounds). The lady ended up winning the showcase because Jose severely overbid...

I don't ever remember seeing any news about another $1 bid on the final round---but it is a good strategy.

Dallas Sports Reporter in San Francisco--"They're smoking weed"

Newy Scruggs a sports reporter for NBC's Dallas Texas affiliate is reporting Live from San Francisco before the start of the 2010 World Series between the SF Giants and the Texas Rangers when he says, "This is San Francisco and I can tell you, there's some people smoking weed, right over there. Because it's coming this way... I'm like, that's not cigarettes, that's weed."

Newy says that San Fran fans are friendlier and nicer than New York fans. "No body's going to spit on us... They're smoking weed over there... They're sitting there half-buzzed out"...

He also says that the standing room tickets are going for $600 - $700---so people would rather hang outside of the stadium and cause a scene during his live video feed.

CTV Reporter throws his microphone into the Polar Bear Pond

Toronto's CTV evening news weatherman Tom Brown was doing a report from the Zoo celebrating Halloween by tossing three pumpkins into the water for the polar bears to eat. The zoologist pitches in the first orange gourd. Tom shoots the second pumpkin into the water as if it were a basketball---And finally on the third pumpkin Mr. Brown loses his microphone into the chilly polar bear pond. Realizing that the viewers at home can no longer hear him, he plays charades as he kicks it back to the anchors in the studio. They do a good job of covering his mistake, in what I consider to be one of the funniest news bloopers of the year.
